History of St Swithun's Church
St Swithun's church is of Romanesque origins but was largely rebuilt between 1870 and 1880 and so the majority of the church is now Victorian.
The Lady Chapel was added in the early 20th century. The church building consists of a nave and chancel, with north and south aisles and transepts.
The tomb of Ann Nelson, left.
Probably the most noteworthy grave in the churchyard is the tomb of Ann Nelson (1760-1783), sister of Horatio Nelson.
